In 2022, two new "occupations" will be added to China's paint industry, and they will be recognized by the Chinese government

Recently, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China announced to the public the newly revised "Occupational Classification Ceremony of the People's Republic of China" (hereinafter referred to as the "Grand Ceremony").

The revision of the ceremony was jointly launched in April 2021 by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the State Administration for Market Regulation, and the National Bureau of Statistics. It is also the second comprehensive revision since the promulgation of the first national occupational classification ceremony in 1999.

The revision of the ceremony focused on the requirements of digital economy, green economy, manufacturing power and rule of law, and specially added or adjusted relevant middle categories, small categories and occupations. At the same time, depending on the actual situation, some categories and occupations were cancelled or integrated.

According to statistics, the new edition includes 8 major categories, 79 middle categories, 449 subcategories, and 1,636 subcategories (occupations). Compared with the 2015 edition, 4 middle categories such as legal affairs and auxiliary personnel, 15 subcategories such as digital technology engineering technicians, and 155 occupations such as carbon sink measurement appraisers have been added (including the new ones released after the 2015 edition of the edition was promulgated profession).

In 2022, two new "occupations" will be added to China's paint industry, and they will be recognized by the Chinese government

One of the highlights of the new edition of the ceremony is that for the first time two occupational types of "architectural painters" and "art painters" have been added. It is worth mentioning that the two new occupations are the Architectural Coatings Branch of China Building Decoration Materials Association (hereinafter referred to as the "Architectural Coatings Branch"), which has been successfully included in the National Occupation Classification Ceremony after 10 years of hard work and exploration.

In the paint coating industry, there is a saying that "three-point coating, seven-point coating", which shows that the coating construction has an important influence on the performance of the coating, and the quality of the coating construction will directly affect the quality and use of the product. . At the same time, the level of painting work is largely determined by the painter. But for a long time, my country lacks relevant professional standards for construction painting workers.

So in 2012, the Architectural Coatings Branch of China Building Decoration Materials Association began to conduct in-depth research, and after visiting a number of production enterprises, distributors, painting workers, and construction units, a consensus was generally formed—industrial workers in the painting industry need a "Identity certification", I also very much hope to have a professional evaluation qualification.

Against the background of strong industry demand, the Architectural Coatings Branch, together with the National Building Materials Industry Occupational Skills Appraisal and Guidance Center and representatives of coating and coating enterprises, jointly compiled the national occupational standard for "Architectural Painters" in 2014, and passed the approval to start the trial operation.

In 2015, the Architectural Coatings Branch organized industry experts to compile the national vocational qualification training material "Architectural Painter" for nearly a year and a half, and it was included in the building materials industry-specific occupational skill training material. In 2016, with the opening of training bases all over the country, batches of industrial workers who have been trained and hold the professional qualification certificate of construction paint workers began to better serve the construction painting industry.

Based on the full preparation and practice in the early stage, the Architectural Coatings Branch filled out and reported the "New Occupation Information Proposal" for architectural painters and wall art painters in June 2021.

On October 21, 2021, Fang Luping, Director of the Training Department of the Architectural Coatings Branch, and Liu Miao, Deputy Secretary-General of the Diatom Mud Branch, participated in the "National Occupational Classification Revision Industry Conference - Special Demonstration Meeting for Housing, Construction, and Building Materials-related Occupations". The newly added occupations of architectural painters and wall art painters were defended.

In November 2011, the Architectural Coatings Branch filled out the revision suggestion record form of the "People's Republic of China Occupational Classification Ceremony (2015 Edition)" for architectural painters and wall art painters and reported it.

In the "New Occupation Information Proposal" for wall art painters, the alternate name of the new occupation is "Art Painter". After the discussion by the association and the revision expert group of the National Occupational Classification Ceremony, it is finally determined that the proposed new job name is "Art Painter". Painter".

According to reports, the new occupation of "art painter" is also related to the development trend of the market and industry. In recent years, the rapid development of art painting materials in my country has spawned a large number of industrial workers engaged in art painting.

At the same time, with the improvement of people's living standards, more and more consumers are pursuing personalized, diversified, healthy and environmentally friendly art wall effects. requirements. So in 2016, the Architectural Coatings Branch conducted in-depth research on the art coating industry.

In order to implement the spirit of the "Guiding Opinions on Promoting the Reform of the Talent Evaluation Mechanism by Classification" and other documents, and in accordance with the requirements of the State Council to promote the reform of "decentralization, management and service", the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security issued the "Opinions on Reforming and Improving the Evaluation System for Skilled Talents" in 2019.

According to the spirit of the "Opinions", the Architectural Coatings Branch applied for the "Artistic Painter" professional standard compilation project and was approved in March 2020. At the same time, it also cooperated with the National Building Materials Industry Vocational Skills Appraisal and Guidance Center to develop the "Artistic Painter" profession Ability evaluation standards, training materials, and the construction of evaluation question banks.

"Art Painter is a new occupational type established in line with the national employment stabilization policy, and the only occupational type established for interior wall painting, which will provide a strong support for the construction specifications of art paints and the high-quality development of the art paint industry. Guaranteed." The relevant person in charge of the Architectural Coatings Branch of China Building Decoration Materials Association said.

At present, there are "painters" in my country's occupational classification, but why are there two new occupational categories, "architectural painters" and "art painters"? What is the difference between the three?

The Architectural Coatings Branch of China Building Decoration Materials Association said, "There are certain differences in the definition of occupation among the three. 'painter' is the occupational specification for painting and construction of workpieces in the factory, while 'architectural painter' And 'Art Painter' is the professional code for painting building surfaces on site."

In 2022, two new "occupations" will be added to China's paint industry, and they will be recognized by the Chinese government

According to reports, "painters" refer to those who operate special mechanical equipment and auxiliary tools to spray, coat and impregnate the surface of workpieces; The person who paints; "art painter" refers to the person who uses wall art paint and special equipment and auxiliary tools to paint the building surface with artistic effect.

At the same time, there are certain differences in the categories of the three. The "painter" belongs to the category of "basic processing personnel in mechanical manufacturing" in the vocational qualification ceremony, so it can be seen that the "painter" belongs to the category of industrial painting; "Architectural Painter" and "Art Painter" belong to the category of "Decorator" in the professional qualification ceremony, and the category of architectural decoration and painting.

It is reported that the vocational skills certificates of "Architectural Painter" and "Art Painter" are issued by the Construction Materials Industry Vocational Skills Appraisal and Guidance Center. They are universal and valid for life. They can be submitted for examinations level by level until they obtain the highest level of national vocational skills. Enjoy the corresponding national and local welfare benefits.

As the organizational unit for the establishment, compilation, declaration and defense of the two professional standards of "Architectural Painter" and "Art Painter", the Architectural Coatings Branch of China Building Decoration Materials Association has explored and promoted after 10 years of hard work. More than 100 paint-related enterprises and institutions such as Bang, Dulux, 3trees, Carpoly, etc., adhering to the spirit of science, rigor and pragmatism, have finally formed professional skill standards that echo each other and have their own characteristics. And enter it into the new edition of the occupation classification ceremony, which is an epoch-making achievement.

This means that building wall painting practitioners have a "skill level ID card", which plays a key role in escorting the high-quality development of the paint coating industry, and has taken a step forward for the rise of China's paint industry to the top of the world. A solid step.

In this revision of the ceremony, in order to comprehensively, objectively and accurately reflect the actual situation of the current social and occupational development, the newly added occupational information in recent years has been incorporated into the new edition of the ceremony, the descriptions of some original occupational information have been updated, and the dead ones have been cancelled. Profession.

As the basis for formulating occupational standards, occupational classification is an important basic work for carrying out vocational education and training and talent evaluation. This new edition of the ceremony, especially the release of new occupations, is of great significance for enhancing the social recognition of employees, promoting employment and entrepreneurship, leading the reform of vocational education and training, and promoting high-quality economic development.

Painter Skills Checklist and Examples

Paint may be literally superficial, but a good paint job or a bad paint job can have a huge impact on the look and feel of a building, office space or home. While many people paint interiors themselves, most will have to hire a professional if they want a professional-quality job.

You do not need a degree or complete a dedicated drawing training program. 1 However, many companies require painters to be licensed and/or registered as contractors. 2 You also need to purchase insurance to protect you if anything goes wrong, we will not be liable.

In many ways, painting interiors and exteriors is a very different job, as each paint type and the tools required are different. You can choose to do one or both.

The skilled handiwork of painters is all around us, in every corner. They work on buildings and infrastructure in cities across the world to keep them looking stunning. The Chinese painting industry has changed a lot in 2022. Entering the trade or even starting your own painting company presents new challenges that you must be aware of.

Here are four things you need to consider about the painting trade before entering it:

1. Are You Willing To Learn The Skills To Become A Painter?

2. Do You Have Some Basic Education Or Training?

Like any other profession, painting requires you to have some skills to find success in the trade. The good news is that the average person can paint a room without years of training. However, there are certain things you need to know to boost your chances of success.

You’ll need to have a deep understanding of the tools, materials, and techniques needed to work well; you’ll need to be physically in shape because painting requires you to climb ladders, lift objects, and carry tools, among other physically demanding tasks.

Is Painting a Skilled Trade?

Yes, painting is a skilled trade. Painting requires coating application and surface prep skills, knowledge of various coating properties, physical abilities, and equipment handling skills.

To become a painter, it helps to have completed a painting training course to make yourself more desirable to an employer. Some positions also require a certain amount of on-the-job experience before you can apply.

Many painters learn specific skills related to the industry they work with, such as how best to handle different types of surfaces or apply paint correctly for particular tasks, by completing apprenticeship programs that typically last a few months.

It should not be a problem if you’re passionate and willing to go through this. You can also gain certifications to boost your portfolio – certifications show that you are qualified and experienced, giving potential employers peace of mind when they hire someone new.

Top Painter Skills

If you're interviewing for a job, make sure you can demonstrate these skills. On the other hand, if you're still thinking about a career path, do a self-examination to see if these skills are or could be your advantage.

Communication Skills

In order to meet customer needs, you must understand customer needs. Unfortunately, many people don't know how to explain clearly what they want, so you have to be able to draw a more precise description or use your judgment to fill in the details.

Remember, good communication means listening to and respecting your customers' needs, not what you think they should want. You can make suggestions, but the property owner always has the final say.

Aesthetic Awareness

Most clients require you to exercise at least some judgment in your work, and some will ask you for advice directly. You need to feel strongly about something that looks good. Treat the job site as a work of art.

Attention to Detail

A good, even great paint job lies in the details, such as crisp, clean edges, an even coat, and well-adhered layers. A small mistake can subtly but meaningfully change the look of a room or building.

Familiarize yourself with the Required Tools

Painters use a variety of brushes, rollers, scrapers, wire brushes, sanders, and texturing tools to create different effects, and you must know which tools to use in each situation. You must also know how to use them effectively and well. The choice of tools for interior and exterior painting is different, and different tools may also be required to paint different styles or textures. Special handling and clean-up also require their own equipment and materials.

Familiarize yourself with the Required Materials

Paints vary not only by color, but also by texture, gloss, viscosity, drying time and other factors. Then there are primers, varnishes, sealers, and finishes, which also vary greatly. Choose the wrong combination on the wrong surface and the paint could peel, crack, wash off or look bad.

Physical Dexterity, Strength and Balance

Painters need good manual dexterity to get a good, clean coat. However, you also need sufficient strength and ergonomic skills to move the device safely and efficiently, as well as a strong sense of balance to avoid falling off roofs and ladders.

Time Management Skills

Whether you're self-employed or an employee, you'll likely spend most of your workday alone, or at least out of your supervisor's line of sight. You must be able to work efficiently and well without direct supervision. Self-employed painters must also be able to accurately estimate how long a job will take to complete.
