Can you texture a wall with a sponge?

Apply taping or joint compound to your wall with a trowel or a wide compound knife. Dab a sponge into the compound, then press the sponge against the wall repeatedly to create an overall texture. Dab on additional compound as necessary. Let dry and then paint.

How to Sponge Paint a Wall

1.Paint the Wall in the Base-Coat Color. Cover the wall in the first of the colors you've chosen with a paint roller

2.Sponge on the First Top-Coat Color. Once the base coat is dry, mix equal parts glaze and a top-coat color

3. Add the Second Top-Coat Color

Can you use any sponge for painting?

Natural marine sponges or regular kitchen sponges can be used in sponge painting, in combination with contrasting or subtle colors, and in various sheen and transparency levels.

Can I sponge paint without glaze?

One of the reasons why sponging on is a great beginner project is because it works great with water-based mediums - in other words, you don't need to use oil-based paints or glazes for your base coat or the top layers if you don't want to.
